The Institute for Theology Imagination and the Arts 2006 Colloquium on Imagination and Christian Hope went off well. My paper Tolkien's Nostalgia was well received and i'm looking forward to trying to get it published.
During the conference I spoke with some people about our Let's Build a Well project and I have some great and hopeful news . . . unexpected and a bit eucatastrophic . . .
An anonymous donor has pledged to give a matching fund challenge to the Far Country Tell readers: every dollar will be matched with an additional dollar up to $500.
That means collectively when we give $100 it will yield $200, $250 will yield $500 and $500 will yield $1000.
Friends, to build a well in Africa may seem like an unreal plea . . . but thus is the power of the imagination in realizing the prophetic claim of God's coming Kingdom here and now. To participate in God's work of giving hope where there once was none. I know "when i look at the world" it's difficult to see with (as Calvin says) the spectacles of faith . . .
what will we do?
